Ali and Genese

Ali and Genese are amazing. I love the way they encourage each other and other people.

And when we are all together laughs ensue.
Not to mention that they are both absolutely gorgeous.

Sneak Peek

Sometimes there are days that are lovely but challenging. Like shooting a beautiful wedding in the rain. But the product of such days is sometimes far better than it would have been because of the challenges.

Food Photography

In my photography class this semester we had to take pictures of some food item. I originally was thinking I would do something with Asparagus, but when I went to the grocery store I was totally struck by the intense hues of purple in some eggplants and a cabbage that I found. I couldn't decide, so I got both. ;)

We also had to do some pictures of eggs, so I set up a little studio setup in my room. I had some black posterboard that i put as a surface, and then some behind the eggs, and then I got a reading light from my brother's room and clamped it to a book and taped a piece of lined paper from my notebook over it for some diffusion, and white balanced it out in the camera. And then I set up my home-made reflector (a piece of mount board with tin foil over it) on the other side to bounce some light back onto the egg. All in all one of THE most ghetto things I probably could have done. But it worked out pretty well. :D

Ian and Charisse: The Engagement

Charisse has those sparkly sort of eyes, and when Ian makes her laugh they sparkle even more. Not quite so much as when she gives him a sarcastic comment back, but still sparkling.

These two met in our church, he is the pastor's son, and she is an elementary age group teacher in an inner city school in Oakland. Ian was going to a concert by her favorite band, and invited her when he found out how much she loved the band, and they decided to start hanging out before they went so it wouldn't be awkward. It was apparently not awkward, because at Christmas time he took her ice skating in San Francisco, and in his own words "It was packed, so we sat down, and my heart was beating so hard that i thought I might have an actual heart attack, so I figured I'd better do it right then before I died."

Charisse said yes. :D

We did their engagement session in Oakland, and of course my facebook status said that I was off to shoot some people in Oakland. You know you have the best job in the world if you can say that and it's ok. ;)

Congratulations guys!!!
